look in phone book under auto glass make a few calls might get a new one install at your home 150 bucks done in a hour or less

yes there is a law that covers the cracker thing and ether you get it replaced of the DVM will sight you for the cracked windshield and dint care weather its a cad or a vw thy dint care but thy will give you a ticket for having a cracker in your windshield and that can also give you one for not having one so get it replaced

As a retired police officer I can tell you that a cracked windshield will get you a ticket or a safety equipment repair order. Anything damaging a windshield that impairs the drivers vision of the roadway must be repaired and your state law says what is or is not an impairment to the drivers vision. If you get a ticket for the windshield make sure you comply promptly or your tags may be suspended. Check with your local police department or the state police where you live as they can tell you how much time you have to replace/repair the windshield if you get a ticket.

I do not know your local laws about the visibility through your front windshield in your area. They are pretty strict in my country and a crack of a total of 8 inches would definitely need to be replaced in my country unless it's way over to the passenger's side. However to stop a crack from going further someone once told me to put simple nail polish at the bottom of the crack on both sides, and it happened to me too once on a very small crack when i was running low on funds… so , anything to save some $$ .. so i tried it and it really seemed to keep the crack from going any further for a while. but again, check your local laws to make sure you don't get pulled over by the police, because money st pent on them, you might as well invest in a new windshield.

Check your policy statement if crack on the windshield is included. But most auto insurance companies include this on their coverage.

I cracked mine and called my insurance, they sent a repair guy out to me at my work who replaced the whole windshield and it only cost me my excess.So I guess,..give them a call. It didn't affect my no claim bonus either.But it will depend on which kind of cover you have.

Check your policy, or with your insurance agent… check for "full glass coverage" on your policy.
Then follow through with the estimate and/or repair.

If you do not have "full glass," you can still have it repaired, but you will be liable to pay the deductible.

I'm with Hartford (http://hartfordauto.com?PLCode=640018 ) and they waive off deductible if it’s a case of glass repair as against glass replacement. Check your auto insurance policy to see what coverage you have. If your policy includes auto glass coverage, then you're not supposed to pay anything out of pocket for glass repair. Your company pays. If the policy includes a deductible for glass replacement, you're responsible to chip in the deductible amount while your auto insurance provider gives the rest. That is the best general info I can give at the moment as I wouldn't know about your company's specific rules.
